Scents - Still Life Photography

When I was choosing a subject for my still life shoot I resulted in taking pictures of items that have scents. I chose to do this because just like how the bottles of the beauty products hold amazing scents, I wanted my pictures to hold something beautiful inside them and I have a strong love for perfume, lotion, and candles. I wanted my pictures to be "strong" and elegant so I used hard lighting to emphasize the still life. I believe my images follow the rule of thirds because the main focus of the image is the upside down lotion bottle and in all the photos that bottle isn't centered in the middle. My photos don't follow the rule of simplicity because there are multiple items in the picture. My photos do have element that follows the lines rule; the upside down bottle leads the eye to the squirted out lotion. The other bottles around the upside down lotion create a frame around it, once again emphasizing the main bottle. Lastly, the photos avoid mergers because you can see each bottle from every angle the photo is taken.

Portraits

I chose this portrait because it has a very joyful vibe to it. A kind of feeling you have when you're having a fun time at the pool, a feeling that I wanted to capture.

I like this portrait because the fact that only his eyes are showing creates interest in the picture.

This portrait is a nice, calm, simple picture. This creates a feeling of relaxation. In this picture there's more of a mature feeling rather than one of the previous pictures that captured more of a playful day at the pool. This picture captures more of a relaxation day.

I like this portrait because my brother isn't looking at the camera. It's a little different from the others.

I liked how the blue water acted as a backdrop and allows the viewer to focus on the subject.

Action Shot Photography

I took these action shot photos at one of my schools track meets. To capture these images, I tried to take certain photos from different angles (for examples, the two pictures of the hurdlers). I also tried to take pictures of the runners from the side, a side angle, and straight on. Using sports mode on my camera made this assignment easy to execute. The hard part was deciding what I want to take a picture of!

Framing
The framing of the sunglasses acts as the frame around the hand.

Framing
The car mirror is framing the scene behind it.

Leading Lines
The lines of the blanket connect, in a way, leading to the next set of lines.

Leading Lines
The lines from the outside of the window lead to the design in the middle.

Pattern
The loopy design on the cup is repeated over and over again creating a pattern.

Pattern
The circle design is repeated over and over again creating a pattern.

Texture
The way this image is captured makes the feeling of the feathers seem visible.

Texture
When looking at this picture, you can imagine the feeling of the threads.
