This is the link to my photo essay! I titled the essay "A Night To Remember." In the essay, I have taken pictures of beauty products I used to get ready for prom night and then took pictures of them as I applied them to myself. The last item is a ring. The last picture I took was of a framed image of me pinning a boutonniere to my prom date. If the viewer looks close enough, they will be able to see the ring on my finger as I pin the rose boutonniere to him. I chose this topic for my photo essay because my prom night was an enjoyable one and I wanted to recreate the feeling of getting ready in these pictures. I also wanted to make my photo essay important to me and these images help to capture one of the best nights of my life.

Meaningful Pictures
I title this picture "Taking It In." The image is of a girl engulfed by the leaves of a Japanese maple. I call this photo "Taking It In" because the girl is taking in her surroundings and being one with nature... or is nature taking her in? The leaves are circling her face, somewhat enclosing her. So which one is it: is she taking in nature or is nature taking her in? That is for the viewer to decide.
I wanted this picture to be sort of like a story. When I took this, I was sitting outside a glass door and my cat was looking out at me. When people see this, they can tell the cat is looking out a window or something of the sort. The thought I wanted to evoke was that the cat is missing something that has exited the house. Perhaps the cat is missing its owner and watching as the human leave once again. Or maybe the cat is longing for freedom and envying everything that experiences the outside world. The story is for the viewer to decide.
This is a picture of me taking a picture while I take a picture on my phone. What I wanted this picture to symbolize is how today's world focuses mainly on what is on their phone screen and doesn't pay attention to the beauty around them. Humans are also self absorbed which is why I made the image on the phone screen of myself to further summarize how people use their phones to focus on themselves by posting their lives on social media rather than enjoying their lives in the moment.

David Hockney Inspired Photo Collage
This is my David Hockney inspired photo collage. I chose to make my collage out of pictures I took from my backyard. I really enjoy nature and I wanted to capture the beauty that I had access to. While I was taking the pictures, I stayed stationary but zoomed in on certain areas around my backyard. This caused my pictures to have different lighting. Also since I would zoom in, the photo I took was never exactly like the ones before so when the images were put together they had slightly different angles and position. Pixlr was very helpful in the making of this. Pixlr allows me to be creative with my work and helps me achieve my goals.
